After suffering through a Magellan unit this is the greatest! Used it to make a 100 mile trip and worked flawlessly. I especially like the large screen, ease of use and the text to speech feature.

I returned it the second day i received from Amazon. It doesn't give accurate direction after i run the test around my house. I set to go from my home to a store, and it told me to go the end of the road and make a left turn. But the end of the road was a dead end and no turn to go. Every time for the next turn, the voice give me the notice, and didn't say the street name i would turn to, just say make a turn in next 200 feet, and when i come to the intersection, it didn't say anything to make a turn from here, i missed turn several times when i followed the instruction.

Two years ago I purchased a Tom Tom One XL which I liked very much. But going on vacation soon I wanted a unit that spoke street names. After talking with friend's who had other gps units and complained how difficult they were to lode and operate I decided to buy the Tom Tom XL300-S. It has everything I wanted and didn't have the things that I didn't want. It is very easy to operate and user friendly. The easy port window adapter did not work like it should, so I called Tom Tom tech support. After waiting a few minutes on the phone I got someone who spoke English, explaining the problem and making sure the problem wasn't me he said that Tom Tom will send me a replacement part via Fed-X this same day.
So overall the Tom Tom XL300-S is a great unit for the price and Tom Tom's Tech support was great.
"Worst product ever" 2009-07-22

I have been trying to use this thing for a couple weeks now and although the actual unit works fine trying to use the computer software on any platform is the most frustrating and irritating experience I have had. I am primarily a Mac user and so downloaded the Home software and got connected, I though alright.
Updated the unit to a new app and default voice, hosed the unit (should have been my first clue). Then it took me 4 hours to get it back to the previous version of the app, still don't have the original voice back (and there is no way to get it back). I had to eventually install the software on my work PC (which defeats the purpose of having a Mac client).
Uninstalled the software on the Mac and tried to download and install it again. Every time I started it up I had major errors because it couldn't create the default folders needed to run the app, you can go through the preferences but you shouldn't have to unless you want to change the defaults.
Now I am trying to get it to connect to the PC again, and wouldn't you know it tries and then does nothing, how fitting. Their website also was frustrating, had problems using it in Firefox, and for some reason just didn't find a lot of solutions there. This was suppose to be a birthday present for my wife, and now I have nothing because I am going to send it back

This is my first experience with a GPS and The Tomtom XL 330 S worked great for me right out of the box. There were some pros and cons.
PROS
I never got lost on a cross country trip.
Easy to use.
I loved the Points of interest feature.
It will find restaraunts near by as well as ones on your route.
It will find a parking garage.
Windows down, radio on, I could still hear the GPS.
It saves recent destinations
It saves favorite destinations.
It gives an estimated time of arrival.
Free map corrections.
This item definately saved me hours of frustration of reading maps and getting lost like I usually do on a long trip
There are a lot of features I did not use.
CONS
Sometimes it is diffacult to see on bright days.
If you want to add features or more maps you have to remove something already on the GPS.
If you carry it walking be sure to turn it off when not in use because it has a short battery life.
Definately m a lot more pros than cons and even though this item is what it is and not a whole lot more, The XL 330 S was a dream come true for me on a long trip.
